Belgard Driveway & Pavers: The Thousand Oaks Owner’s Guide
If you have a Belgard paver driveway, walkway, or patio in Thousand Oaks and a section has shifted, cracked, sunk, or separated, we can match the replacement pavers and fix the base so it stays put. Typical installed repair costs run $450 – $1,800 depending on how many square feet are involved and what’s happening underneath the surface. Full paver driveway installation in Thousand Oaks runs $7,000 – $18,000. Most owners call us after noticing a tripping hazard, pooling water where it used to drain, or pavers that rock underfoot.
We stock and install Belgard pavers and work with their full driveway and patio paver lines. We’re an independent Thousand Oaks contractor, not affiliated with Belgard, which means we can tell you straight what’s worth fixing and what’s worth replacing without pushing a brand agenda.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard makes their paver lines in families, and the family matters more than the color. The three most common in Thousand Oaks driveways are Cambridge Cobble (3-piece modular, 60mm for driveways), Holland Stone (rectangular, 60mm and 80mm), and Urbana (larger-format slabs, 60mm and 80mm). Each has a specific joint width and thickness, and mixing a 60mm driveway paver into an 80mm patio is a fast way to recreate the exact problem you’re calling about.
The easiest way to identify your paver: flip over a loose one and look for the Belgard stamp, or measure it. Cambridge Cobble pieces run roughly 6″x6″, 6″x9″, and 6″x12″. Holland Stones are 4″x8″. If you can’t find a stamp, take a clear photo from directly above and send it to us, or bring a paver with you. We’ll match it. On OEM versus aftermarket: for driveway repairs, we strongly recommend OEM Belgard pavers. Color blends are proprietary, and aftermarket “equivalents” almost never match the fade pattern of pavers that have sat in California sun for five years. That said, for the base material underneath (gravel, sand, geotextile), there’s no reason to pay a brand premium. We use commercial-grade base materials and OEM pavers on top.

Signs Your Belgard Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rock or shift when you step on them. The sand joint between pavers is gone, or the bedding sand underneath has washed out. This happens faster on sloped Thousand Oaks driveways near the Conejo Grade, where rain moves through joints instead of across them.
- Standing water pools in one area after rain. The base has settled or the original install didn’t include proper slope. Water sitting on pavers accelerates joint sand loss and encourages weeds.
- A section sinks or dips visibly. The compacted base underneath failed, usually from a past tree root, a leaking irrigation line, or utility trench that wasn’t re-compacted properly. This won’t fix itself.
- Cracks run across multiple pavers in a line. This usually means the edge restraint has failed and the pavers are spreading under load, or a vehicle drove over an area not designed for that weight.
- Ant mounds or weeds erupting between joints. The polymeric sand in the joints has degraded. When it’s gone, the whole system loses its interlock and each paver starts acting alone.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what paver work actually costs in Thousand Oaks, based on what we see on jobs across the city from Newbury Park to Westlake Village:
- Spot repair (up to 30 sq ft, re-level and re-sand): $450 – $1,800
- Partial driveway repair (30 – 150 sq ft, re-base and reset): $1,800 – $5,000
- Paver patio installation (new): $3,500 – $11,000
- Full paver driveway installation (new): $7,000 – $18,000
- Concrete driveway installation (new): $4,500 – $12,000
What drives the spread is how much of the base has failed. Spot repairs where pavers are fine and only the sand needs replacing are quick. Once we’re removing pavers, re-compacting base rock, and resetting, the labor and material haul costs climb. Every quote includes the pavers, base material, polymeric sand, edge restraint if needed, removal of the old material, and a written price before we start. Our workmanship warranty covers the repair for 365 days from completion, and if something’s not right, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Pull up a loose paver and look at what’s under it. If the bedding sand is still there but just thin, you can add polymeric sand to the joints yourself for under $50 in materials. If the paver sits on bare dirt, or you can see a void under it, or you have a low spot more than half an inch deep, that’s a base problem, not a surface problem. Adding sand on top of a failed base is like putting fresh paint on rotted wood.
The injury risk here is lower than some other parts we handle, but the waste risk is real. A homeowner who buys 40 sq ft of the wrong paver or the wrong thickness has turned a $600 repair into a $1,200 – $2,000 redo. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call us at (805) 309-3386. We’ll tell you what you need, and if it’s a small fix, we’ll say that too.
FAQs

With a properly compacted base, Belgard driveway pavers in Thousand Oaks typically last 25 – 40 years before needing more than joint sand replacement. The pavers themselves are concrete units with a 8,000+ PSI compressive strength and a 2,500 PSI flexural strength, which handles Southern California’s heat and dry-season shifting well. What fails first is the sand in the joints and the base underneath, not the paver, which is why a well-built base matters more than the brand of paver on top.
Yes, in most cases. If the pavers themselves are intact and it’s a localized sink, we pull the affected section, re-compact the base, reset the pavers, and re-sand the joints. We only recommend full replacement when the pavers are cracked through, the base has failed across a large area, or the edge restraints are gone and the whole field has spread. Call (805) 309-3386 and we’ll tell you which camp you’re in before you spend a dollar.
A spot repair takes one day. A partial driveway reset of 50 – 100 sq ft takes two days: day one is removing pavers, re-compacting base, and setting edge restraint; day two is resetting, cutting edge pieces, and joint sanding. A full paver driveway replacement in Thousand Oaks usually runs four to seven working days depending on size and access.
We stock the most common Belgard lines for Thousand Oaks driveways: Cambridge Cobble, Holland Stone, and Urbana in both 60mm and 80mm thicknesses. If you have a less common color or a discontinued line, we can special-order from Belgard’s California distribution center, which adds three to five business days. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for kitchen and bath projects, so if your paver repair turns into a larger conversation about the house, we can handle that too. Call (805) 309-3386 to confirm what’s on the truck this week.
