American Standard Kitchen Remodeling: The Thousand Oaks Owner’s Guide

If you’re in Thousand Oaks and you’ve got an American Standard kitchen that’s showing its age, you’re in the right place. A full American Standard kitchen remodel in Thousand Oaks typically runs between $14,000 and $45,000 installed, and we carry or source American Standard-compatible fixtures, faucets, and sinks so your new kitchen keeps the brand you trust. Most homeowners figure out they need us when the faucet starts dripping at the base, cabinet doors won’t stay shut, or the sink rim has pulled away from the counter enough that water seeps under the lip.

Call (805) 309-3386

We’ve been remodeling kitchens across Thousand Oaks since 2004, and American Standard fixtures show up in a lot of the homes here, especially in original builds from the 1980s through early 2000s. The good news: these products were built to last, and when the surrounding kitchen fails, the fixtures often just need proper reinstallation rather than replacement. But when a part does fail, you want someone who can identify it correctly the first time.

Which American Standard Models This Applies To

American Standard has produced dozens of kitchen faucet, sink, and fixture lines over the years, and the compatibility question is the one we get most often. The older Colony and Reliant lines are common in Thousand Oaks homes built in the 80s and 90s, while the newer Studio, Beale, and Pekoe collections show up in kitchens remodeled after 2010 or in newer construction. Each series uses its own cartridge dimensions, escutcheon plate footprint, and mounting configuration, and mixing parts across series is where DIY jobs go sideways.

Here’s the part most people don’t know: American Standard kitchen faucets manufactured before roughly 2005 used a ceramic disc cartridge with different stem geometry than the post-2005 models. If you buy a cartridge online based on “looks right,” it won’t seat properly. The easiest way to identify what you have is to look under the sink or on the faucet body for an engraved model number, usually starting with a four-digit series code. If you find it, write it down and call us at (805) 309-3386, we’ll match it over the phone before you spend a dime. For OEM versus aftermarket, American Standard OEM cartridges and seals carry a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer. Quality aftermarket equivalents from brands like Danco can work fine on older models, but fit tolerance is tighter on the newer Studio and Beale lines where we recommend OEM. We stock the most common American Standard cartridges and installation kits on our trucks, so a straight swap usually happens on the first visit.

And to be clear: Mason Remodeling Co Thousand Oaks is an independent contractor, not affiliated with American Standard. We just know the product line well enough that you don’t have to.

Signs Your American Standard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Faucet drips from the spout after you turn it off. This almost always means the ceramic disc cartridge inside the faucet body has worn down or a seal has cracked. The fix is a cartridge swap, not a new faucet, and it’s a 45-minute job for us in most Thousand Oaks homes.
  • Water pools at the base of the faucet where it meets the counter. This is the O-ring or gasket under the escutcheon plate failing. Left alone, water works its way into the counter substrate and rots the particle board around the sink cutout. We see this regularly in Thousand Oaks kitchens with original Formica and particle-board counters.
  • Sink rim separates from the counter, or you can wiggle the sink. The mounting clips and adhesive have failed. This is more common in Southern California than people realize because our dry heat cycles expand and contract the materials differently than humid climates. A re-seated sink with fresh adhesive and proper clips prevents a much worse repair later.
  • Pull-down spray head loses pressure, or the spray stream is uneven. Often this is mineral buildup inside the spray head from Thousand Oaks’ hard water. Soaking the head in vinegar helps short term, but if the diverter inside the faucet body is failing, the cartridge needs replacement.
  • Cabinet door hinges sag so the doors catch or refuse to close fully. This is less about the hinge brand and more about the cabinet face frame losing its rigidity after years of California heat and dryness. When we see one door sag, we check adjacent doors and the frame for hidden movement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

For American Standard-specific kitchen work in Thousand Oaks, here’s where your money goes. A straightforward faucet cartridge swap or spray head replacement runs $125 to $275 including the part and our labor. Re-seating a sink and replacing the mounting hardware costs $250 to $500 depending on whether we need to address counter damage. A full kitchen remodel with American Standard fixtures, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and installation lands between $14,000 and $45,000 depending on kitchen size, material choices, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical.

Every job, no matter the size, gets a written price before we start. That’s our standard, not a promotion. The written price includes the parts, the labor, the cleanup, and the haul-away. If the scope doesn’t change, the price doesn’t change. And every completed project carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost to you.

Service Typical Thousand Oaks Price Range
American Standard faucet cartridge swap $125 – $275
Spray head replacement $75 – $200
Sink re-seating with hardware $250 – $500
Full kitchen remodel w/ American Standard fixtures $14,000 – $45,000
Small kitchen remodel $9,000 – $20,000
Countertop installation $2,000 – $6,500
Backsplash installation $800 – $2,500

We also stock and install cabinets from KraftMaid, and countertops from Cambria and Silestone, so if your American Standard kitchen needs more than a part, we can handle the whole job without bringing in a second contractor.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. If your faucet has a visible leak and you can turn off the water valves under the sink without them crumbling, you can remove the aerator and check for debris, or soak the spray head in vinegar. That’s safe, and it sometimes clears a pressure issue. But once you’re pulling the faucet handle apart or loosening the mounting nuts under the sink, leave it to someone who does this weekly. A cracked supply line at full pressure floods a Thousand Oaks kitchen in minutes, and we’ve had to dry out cabinets and replace drywall because a handle pull went wrong.

One more thing worth knowing: American Standard faucet cartridges are under spring tension. Pop the retainer clip wrong and the cartridge can fire out and damage the faucet body. If you’re not sure, call us at (805) 309-3386 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a job for us or something you can handle safely.
